Within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed with Azerbaijan’s national space agency and satellite operator, Azercosmos, Plan-S aims to provide the coverage needed for IoT device communication, especially in Azerbaijan’s rural and infrastructure-limited areas, via satellite-based solutions.

With the agreement signed last month in Baku at the Space Technology Conference 2025, Plan-S is making the Connecta IoT Network system, notable for its low energy consumption and wide area coverage, available for use in critical sectors in Azerbaijan such as agriculture, energy, and logistics. Thanks to this satellite-based system, reliable and cost-effective connectivity is provided for IoT device data transmission without the need for terrestrial infrastructure.

Digital Transformation Starts in the Rural Areas

The Connecta IoT Network, which provides low-cost connectivity in regions with significant infrastructure deficiencies, will make a substantial contribution to Azerbaijan’s digital transformation process. This space-based solution facilitates field operations in sectors with high data demands, like agriculture and energy, enables fast and accurate data-driven decision-making, and increases efficiency by saving time and costs.

Space-Based Solutions for Regional Development

Özdemir Gümüşay, CEO of Plan-S, stated that this cooperation is a step that strengthens the strategic ties between the two nations. He said, “We are very happy to contribute to Azerbaijan’s digital transformation goals with the Connecta IoT Network and to disseminate advanced space technologies in the country together with Azercosmos.” He added, “This project is a significant milestone that also demonstrates our country’s ambition in the global space race.”

Global Impact with New Generation Satellite Services

The satellite-based IoT communication services offered by Plan-S continue to contribute to digital transformation not only in its home country but also in different geographies. This strategic partnership realized with Azercosmos reinforces the role of space technologies in global development while also reflecting the shared technology vision of the two countries.
