Plan-S Expands Global IoT Coverage with Four New Satellites
This launch expands the commercially active Connecta IoT Network satellite constellation to 12, significantly boosting the network’s capacity and service quality.
Plan-S, a pioneering company in Turkish space and satellite technology, has once again been recognized for the value it places on its people. In the Great Place to Work® Institute’s 2025 evaluations, Plan-S achieved a standout success in its sector by securing a place on three separate prestigious lists, all based on employee feedback. These results are a testament to the excellence Plan-S has achieved not only in technology but also in its corporate culture.
More Frequent Data Collection, Broader Industry Reach
With every launch, Plan-S continues to enhance its space-based IoT communication capabilities. The latest generation of satellites enables more frequent data collection and even greater service reliability.
“The Connecta IoT Network is already actively serving the field,” said Plan-S CEO Özdemir Gümüşay. “These new satellites allow us to collect data more often and expand our reach to a broader range of industries. Each step forward brings us closer to our vision of seamless global connectivity.”
A Field-Tested, Next-Generation Satellite IoT Network
Built to deliver reliable, low-power, and cost-effective IoT connectivity in areas where terrestrial networks fall short, the Connecta IoT Network is the first and only nextgeneration satellite IoT network that is both operational and widely field-tested. It currently supports diverse applications, from smart meters in the energy sector to agricultural sensors and water resource monitoring systems. With this latest launch, users can expect even faster data refresh rates and improved service continuity.
A Leap in Domestic Innovation
The Connecta IoT-9, Connecta IoT-10, Connecta IoT-11, and Connecta IoT-12 satellites were developed using insights gained from earlier missions. A key advancement in this batch is the increased use of components and subsystems designed and built in-house by Plan-S.
“These four satellites mark a major milestone in our journey toward technological selfsufficiency,” said Gümüşay. “Nearly all critical subsystems were developed by our engineers and manufactured by our technicians. It’s a significant step toward both technological autonomy and sustainable growth.”
Building the Infrastructure for a Connected World
“With every satellite we launch, we’re not only boosting performance but also enhancing the scalability and resilience of our system,” said Gökmen Cengiz, CTO of Plan-S. “Today, we operate 17 satellites in orbit, including our very first test satellite launched three years ago. Our ground stations in Ankara, Erzurum, and Sweden allow us to manage data from IoT devices across the globe.” He added, “We are building a satellite communications infrastructure that is globally competitive. Together, we’re helping shape a more connected and digitally resilient future.”
