The stations, developed entirely with domestic capabilities by the company’s engineering team, significantly increase operational effectiveness.

Space Communication Moves to a New Dimension

Plan-S is strengthening its global satellite communication infrastructure with its self-developed ground stations. Thanks to four stations operating in Ankara, Erzurum, and Sweden, Plan-S is achieving maximum operational efficiency by communicating more frequently with its satellites in LEO.

Coverage Increases, Pass Durations Decrease with Strategic Locations

While Plan-S uses its proprietary ground stations, specially designed for its own satellites, in Ankara and Erzurum, it has established a third self-developed station at a strategic point in Sweden to make more frequent contact with satellites in polar orbit. All hardware and software for these stations were developed in-house, allowing the satellites to carry out their missions faster and more effectively.

Özdemir Gümüşay, CEO of Plan-S, stated, “With our self-developed software infrastructure, our satellites can transition autonomously between these stations. This gives us both operational speed and high flexibility.”

An Operational Commercial Ground Station in S/UHF Bands

The ground station in Sweden enables much more frequent communication with satellites in polar orbit, particularly due to its proximity to the polar regions. This infrastructure is a fully Plan-S-manufactured commercial ground station offering operational control in S/UHF bands, notable for its low noise level and ability to operate in extreme climate environments.

Autonomous System, Centralized Control

Thanks to the centralized control software developed by Plan-S, all stations are managed from a single center. This system, which offers automatic mission planning and the ability to intervene immediately in emergencies, guarantees operational continuity by minimizing human intervention.

New Stations on the Way

Gümüşay said, “We are working on new stations that operate in different bands and have higher capacity. We will share these investments with the public in the upcoming period.” New ground stations are planned for regions where legal regulatory processes have been completed. This way, Plan-S aims to further expand its coverage area worldwide and elevate its global satellite services to the next level.

A Network Extending to the World

Gökmen Cengiz, CTO of Plan-S, used the following statements: “Today, we are building a global satellite network worldwide, not only with our satellites but also with our ground stations. This entire infrastructure was developed by our engineers. With this high-technology network extending from our home base to the world, we are growing not just communication capabilities, but also our technological independence.”
